On Jan 16th, I am starting a 3,000 km (1,800 mi) tandem bike adventure through New Zealand, from Cape Reinga in the north to Bluff in the south. Kindness is the name of my bike. I’ll be inviting random strangers and friends along my way to take up the rear seat and help pedal for a cause. My goal is to connect with people at a more meaningful level, sharing about these young children who do not have freedom, a story that would make people really care.
When the riders step off the bike, I hope they will return home as advocates and do their part to help raise awareness, finding others to contribute to the cause.
What will it take to see a world without slavery? All of us.
Big thanks to my friends Brian and Tyler Wall for the inspiration. Their project, The Empty Seat, sowed the seeds for Freedom Seat. And thanks to Ben and Megan for getting married in Alaska. This wouldn’t have happened otherwise!
Hayley, it was lovely to bump into you at the bus stand in Mission Bay. Your kind words of encouragement and prayer, that’s all I need to finish what I started. Thank you for riding with me.
Freedom Seat is possible because of wonderful people like you.
