Day 11: Gateway of India, Mumbai

ChennaiHamburg

Day 11 update: After two flats, a derailleur, and a snapped chain, we finally reached the Gateway of India, Mumbai, with the help of 66 strangers and friends who biked 1,435 km with me to support End Slavery Now.

A total of 66 people have ridden with me so far, with the youngest being 6 and the oldest being 64. The shortest distance someone rode was about 300 m and the longest stretch was 28 km. It’s been such a humbling experience sharing this adventure with random strangers and friends.

Though my Iran visa is approved, I still had to submit my application and passport for stamping. Will be saying goodbye to India soon after I receive my passport. Gives me time to fix the bike, contemplate the journey and get ready for the upcoming 7,000+ km road ahead.

Thanks, friends, for all your kind words, calls, and messages. This wouldn’t be possible without you all.

Finishing India at the Gateway of India, with my last passenger on Kindness.

Freedom Seat has got off to a great start and completed 1,435 km through Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Maharashtra.

The kindness and hospitality shown by people all along the way has been incredible.

One country done. Just 12 more borders to cross and 7,500+ km to go.

A garlanded welcome, and a rider on the back seat.
