After a long and windy day I rolled into Sirjan. That’s when I met Pyoor, who jumped out of his friend’s car and joined me. I kept following his directions, and after 9 km we arrived at his house.
“Welcome home,” he said, and took me straight in and introduced me to his family. What happened the next 24 hours will stay with me for the rest of my life.
His family treated me as one of their own. His dad always introduced me to his friends and family with “He is my boy”, and as he said that, he would put his arm around my shoulder.
When I was full from eating breakfast, I politely declined any more food, and his mom hollered from the kitchen, “I will beat you. Eat. You have a long way to go.”
It was so hard to say goodbye. The whole family came to give me a warm send-off while his mom kept asking me to stay one more night.
Iranian people and their hospitality are unlike anything I have ever experienced in my life. It made me think that whatever you hear and see in the media is not what it actually is.
The Freedom Seat journey has been very rewarding to me personally; otherwise I would have missed out on encountering such loving and kind souls in my life.
Feeling loved and extremely blessed!
I’m a millionaire! Six million Iranian rials in my pocket.
