Day 30: A chai shop in the rain

As it started to rain, I found a chai shop by the corner of the expressway. That’s when I met this lovely gentleman.

It was getting very cold with thundershowers. He was filling up his flask with hot water at the chai shop. He was curious and very supportive of Freedom Seat. I asked him if he could watch my bike and also asked for his help to point me to the right toilet (the toilet had male / female written in Persian and had no pictures).

When I returned, he had left a bag with a whole bunch of snacks and tea bags. He also gave me his telephone card and told me to use it at the landline booth as the next few hundred km wouldn’t have any reception. He also gave me his personal number and asked me to give him a ring anytime if I needed any help.

Every day in Iran is an amazing day full of kindness stories from road angels! Persian hospitality at its best. Love 🇮🇷!!

My road angel at the chai shop, and the phone card he gave me.

Even a 2 yo child is hospitable and kind in Iran 🇮🇷.

Iranian hospitality starts young.

No one… I mean NO ONE just says hi and goes on with their life. They always ensure that you are well fed, comfortable and taken good care of.

These truck drivers were having their breakfast on the side of the road when they saw me and hollered a loud “Salaam” and asked me to join them.

I sat on the side of the road with them and was having my second breakfast 🍳

Kindness and hospitality abound in Iran 🇮🇷
