Monsoon trail running in the Sahyadri hills, training for Te Araroa.

“The summer sun was not meant for boys like me. Boys like me belonged to the rain.” — Benjamin Alire Sáenz

Enjoying the monsoon rain in Lonavla, India, running some gnarly trails under thick fog.

The Sahyadri hills in the monsoon.

Lush green hills en route to Sinhagad, a fortress perched on an isolated cliff of the Bhuleswar range of the Sahyadri Mountains. Yes, those white streaks are waterfalls all over the mountains due to heavy monsoon rains.

Trail running at its best. Five glorious miles in Sinhagad (translated as Lion’s Fort), in the Bhuleswar range of the Sahyadri Mountains. It is situated on a hill rising 1,312 m (4,304 ft) above sea level.

Five glorious miles at Sinhagad.
