My playground was above the clouds yesterday, overlooking the entire Tararua range and Taranaki along the Te Araroa trail from Mt Crawford. The mountains were holding up the clouds like a dam. One of those purely magical moments that overcome all the pain and exhaustion and make you completely NEW.
Wished for one of these moments and it was really happening. One of those magical moments at the summit of Mt Crawford on the Tararua range along Te Araroa. Eddie Vedder’s soundtrack song “The Wolf” rings in my head every time I’m at a summit, making me feel free.
And I’m back. The Tararua mountain range was beyond beautiful. Summited Pukemarawai, Twin Peak and Mt Crawford. Almost at the end of the North Island. Day 39: 1623km.
