Day 23: The truckies at Marulan

FremantleSydney

There was an oncoming truck and one behind me. I decided to stop and move over to the shoulder and let them pass, as the road was all gravelly. The truck honked as it passed (it sounded more like a “cheers” honk).

I stopped at the Marulan KFC for a feed when a man approached me and asked if I was the cyclist he had passed. When I said that was me, he thanked me for being considerate. He asked what I was doing in the middle of the night, and I told him about IPWR and the charity.

He introduced me to several other truckies. He also invited me to crash at the lounge for the night. We were sharing stories from the open road and had a blast of a time. I had no idea when I dozed off.

When I woke up this morning, I found this note by the couch and all the goodies and coffee 😃!

Life on the open road brings so many good people into your life and makes your journey more beautiful and memorable!
