It felt weird to be cycling in long pants all day. Not a biggie though.
As I entered a supermarket, the security guard politely asked me to leave and put on some long pants. I had no problem walking around in MTB shorts in Muscat, but the interior parts of Oman have some dress etiquette.
I apologised and left the mart saying I would put on some pants.
While I walked out to find the leggings (it’s one of those convertible pants), I saw the security guard staring at me. He must have thought I was going to take off my shorts and put on some pants in the parking lot 😂
I pointed at the pants and asked him if it was ok, and he gave a thumbs up 👍🏼
After buying food, while leaving, I apologised once again, and he told me it was ok. They had received a few complaints from people in the past about men walking around in shorts, and that’s why they had to enforce the rule. Also, if you are wearing 3/4ths, it’s ok as long as your knees are covered.
In the Southern USA, I have seen signs that say “No shoes, no shirt, no service.” But here it’s “No pants, no service” 😂
Day 18 (day 13 of cycling, though) went real well, bringing the total to 1,687 km. Hopefully I will cross into the UAE 🇦🇪 tomorrow.
